Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 21, 2026 · Effective immediately
The short version
1. Who We Are
Ta Vie Finance ("we," "our," or "us") is a personal budgeting application operated at app.taviefinance.com. We are a solo-founded product committed to keeping your financial data private, secure, and entirely under your control.
Questions about this policy? Email us at taviefinanceapp@gmail.com. We respond within 30 days.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide
When you create an account and use Ta Vie Finance, we collect:
- Account information: Your name and email address
- Authentication data: Your password, stored as a secure cryptographic hash — we never see or store your actual password
- Financial data you enter: Budget categories, expense and income amounts, savings buckets, transaction notes, payment types, and any other data you manually add to the app
- Bank account data imported via Plaid: Balance, transactions, and last four digits of account number — Premium users only (see the Bank Account Data section below)
If you do not connect a bank account, every number in Ta Vie Finance was typed in by you. If you choose to connect a bank (a Premium feature), we receive transaction data from Plaid as described in the Bank Account Data section. We never collect or store your banking username, password, full account numbers, or routing numbers.
2.2 Information collected automatically
When you use our service, we automatically receive:
- Usage data: Which features you use, pages you visit, and how you interact with the app
- Device and technical data: Browser type, operating system, IP address, and device identifiers
- Cookies and local storage: Used to keep you logged in and remember preferences like your selected currency
- Subscription and payment status: Received from Stripe or RevenueCat (we never store payment details themselves)
- Device token for push notifications: A device-specific identifier so we can deliver push notifications to the correct device
- Error logs: Technical diagnostics for bug fixes (no financial data)
3. Biometric Authentication
Ta Vie Finance offers optional Face ID and Touch ID sign-in. Biometric data never leaves your device. Apple's secure enclave handles the match; Ta Vie Finance only receives a success or failure signal and stores no biometric information.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide and improve Ta Vie Finance:
- Provide the service: Enable budget tracking, expense logging, savings management, and analytics
- Authenticate your account: Verify your identity and keep your data secure
- Improve the product: Understand how users interact with the app to make it better
- Communicate with you: Send account-related emails (password resets, important service updates)
- Ensure security: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats
We will never: sell your personal information, use your financial data for advertising, or share your budget with third parties outside of what is described in Section 3.
5. How We Share Your Information
5.1 Service providers
We work with trusted third-party services to operate Ta Vie Finance. Each provider only receives the minimum information needed to perform its function.
Stores your account data, hashed password, and all budget and expense data you enter. Contractually prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than providing storage services to us. Your account data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure in the United States. Privacy policy →
Hosts and delivers the Ta Vie Finance web application. Receives technical data like IP addresses and request logs as part of normal web hosting. Privacy policy →
We use Plaid to securely connect your bank accounts and import transaction data. When you connect an account, you provide your banking credentials directly to Plaid. Ta Vie Finance never sees or stores your banking username or password. We receive only the account and transaction data needed to display your finances in the app. Plaid's handling of your data is governed by Plaid's End User Privacy Policy at plaid.com/legal/#end-user-privacy-policy.
We use Stripe to process subscription payments on the web. When you subscribe, your payment details are collected and stored by Stripe, not Ta Vie Finance. We receive a subscription status and customer ID only. Stripe's privacy practices are described at stripe.com/privacy.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions on iOS. RevenueCat receives a de-identified user ID, your subscription status, and purchase events. It does not receive your name, email, or financial data. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
We use OneSignal to deliver push notifications such as budget alerts. OneSignal receives a device token and an anonymous user ID so notifications can be sent to the correct device. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or in the app. See onesignal.com/privacy_policy.
We use Resend to send transactional emails (account verification, security codes, receipts). Resend receives your email address and the content of those messages.
We use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog does not receive your transaction amounts, account balances, or banking information. We use this tool only to improve the app.
We use Sentry for error monitoring. Sentry does not receive your transaction amounts, account balances, or banking information. We use this tool only to fix bugs.
5.2 Legal requirements
We may disclose your information when required by law, including in response to a valid court order, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ta Vie Finance, our users, or others. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may transfer to the acquiring entity under the same privacy commitments.
5.3 With your consent
We will only share your information with any other third party when you explicitly authorize us to do so.
6. Bank Account Data
When you connect a bank account, we receive the following data from Plaid:
- Account name, type, and last four digits of the account number
- Account balance
- Transaction history (amount, date, merchant name, category)
We do not receive or store:
- Your banking username or password
- Your full account or routing numbers
- Your Social Security number or tax ID
You can disconnect a bank account at any time from Settings → Banking. When you disconnect, we delete the Plaid access token and stop syncing new transactions. Transactions already imported remain in the app so your history stays intact, and you can delete them individually if you wish.
7. Data Retention
- Active account data: We retain your account data for as long as your account is active
- Account deletion: If you delete your account, all personal data including expenses, budgets, savings, and debt records are permanently deleted within 30 days
- Backups: Backups may retain data for up to 7 additional days after deletion
- Data export: You can export your data at any time via the CSV export feature in the app
- Deletion requests: To request deletion of your account and data, use the Delete Account option in Profile settings, or email taviefinanceapp@gmail.com
8. Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ta Vie Finance does not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Ever.
We do not sell personal data as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or any other applicable law. Your financial data, usage data, and personal information are used solely to provide and improve the Ta Vie Finance service. We do not monetize your data in any way.

9. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
- Encryption at rest: Data stored in Supabase is encrypted at rest
- Password hashing: Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we cannot retrieve your password, only verify it
- Access controls: Access to production data is strictly limited and logged
- Dependency monitoring: We monitor for known vulnerabilities in our software dependencies
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we take every reasonable precaution, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to taviefinanceapp@gmail.com.

- Right to rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")

13. International Data Transfers
Ta Vie Finance is operated globally. Your data may be stored and processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, where Supabase and Vercel infrastructure is located. These countries may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
By using Ta Vie Finance, you consent to this transfer. We ensure that any cross-border data transfers are governed by appropriate safeguards, including contractual obligations with our service providers.
14. Children's Privacy
Ta Vie Finance is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at taviefinanceapp@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.

We use the following types of cookies:
- Essential cookies: Required for authentication and session management. The service cannot function without these.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies will prevent you from staying logged in.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or via an in-app notification before the changes take effect. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. Continued use of Ta Vie Finance after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
